Camino Media is willing to consider co-production deals for projects which are wholly or partly to be filmed within Spain (including the Balearics and the Canary Islands.)
In the case of a co-production deal, Camino Media would be able to offer discounted overall production costs as well as production base within Spain. Additionally, as a registered Spanish company, Camino Media is eligible for public grants available exclusively for productions in local, national, or European locations. Camino Media would undertake to source this co-financing, where possible, based on the particular criteria of a project.
Television / Non-theatre Release Projects
Projects destined for television or non-theatrical release will be considered by Camino Media as long as they have a specific national or regional cultural interest within Spain. Viability for the participation of Camino Media in any co-production will depend on the accessibility of the project to the Spanish national and regional television markets. It is important that projects already have part financing and are beyond the first stages of development.
In addition, projects of particular regional interest within Spain may be eligible for regional grants or part sponsorship by local public bodies.
Various schemes are available to EU member countries which can provide development and pre-production costs and which actively promote co-production between member countries.
Cinema (Fiction / Documentary) Projects
There is particular provision of funds in the Spanish Institute of the Cinematographic Arts for co-production of projects destined for a theatrical release, and the institute actively supports international co-production with various models for grants and subsidies.
Spanish television companies invest each year in long-form fiction (features of TV movies for European television). Projects with commercial potential and with some financing already in place are more likely to be considered.
To companies/producers based in EU member countries, there are various European schemes which offer substantial grants for development, production, promotion, and distribution of co-produced projects.
There are also bodies within individual EU member states which give support to producers wishing to co-produce with companies in other EU countries.
The regions within Spain also actively promote production by offering grants and subsidies for projects. In some areas of the country this may depend on projects having a particular regional interest and a quota of local involvement whereas in other regions substantial production subsidies may only depend on a certain proportion of the production being filmed in the region and the local facilities.
