The Art of Storytelling

The celebrated showcase of interior designers and decorators, Casa Décor '06, opened its doors to the Camino Media team earlier this year.  As a sponsor of the month-long exhibit, Discovery Channel's People & Arts called on our producer and director of photography to shoot several interstitial promos for the channel which spotlight the work of artists in dozens of rooms inside a historic building next to Madrid's Puerta de Alcalá.

"You managed to record a good amount in just two days, and the shots are exactly what I was expecting:  beautiful, classy, detailed.  The interviews are also complete.  With such good results, I hope we will be able to work together again soon!"  Eliana Fajardo, producer, Discovery Latin America/Iberia.

"We are happy with the work and the contribution of Camino Media and the team.  Thanks a lot for the collaboration."  That's the input from artists Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson upon completion of a video art project exhibited in the Stadsgalerij Heerlen Modern and Contemporary Art Museum of Rotterdam.  The couple came to Camino Media with an idea of contrasting views from the Spanish Andalusian village of Frigiliana and the capital city, Madrid.  We put together a team of marathon runners, with experienced hands at recording while on the move, to shoot a non-stop, 2-hour journey from east to west across Madrid.  In digital post-production our editor then polished off the DVD version of the Madrid and Frigiliana recordings for simultaneous exhibit in The Netherlands museum.

Camino Media was center stage for the live concert recording of Scandinavian rock legend TNT during the group's "All The Way To The Sun" tour.  We provided jib and camera operators with digital video and audio gear in a collaboration with iMagic Films, Ltd., of the U.K. for the soon-to-be-released DVD "TNT, Live from Madrid".

It was the art of teaching which UK publisher Pearson Longman chose to spotlight in its series of "Inspiring Teachers".  Camino Media supplied a cameraman with HDV gear for the shoot in Seville, Spain, and later added a field producer to the package for a shoot in Acapulco, Mexico.

Camino Media also brought sports talent into focus as the year got underway.  We supplied a lighting cameraman and HDV gear in Barcelona, Spain, for a documentary profile of Russian tennis player Elena Bovia, in a half-hour episode of "No Strings" for The Tennis Channel.

Meantime, it was a production assistant from the feature film "Goal! 2: Living the Dream" that Camino Media drafted for the UK firm, Century Films in its documentary on David Beckham.  Our PA proved an essential member of the team as she handled crew transport, accommodations, filming permits, translation, gear hire (with help from our office) and more for the story expected to air on ITV in the run-up to the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.

The production of a Fox News documentary on greenhouse gas emissions put Camino Media's research team in motion.  We coordinated a 2-day shoot in three distant locations - Madrid, Almeria, and Puertollano, Spain - and supplied a producer to round out the story segment explaining the dynamics behind why Spain ranks the worst among European nations striving for compliance with the Kyoto Protocol for CO2.

The team also coordinated Fox News coverage of a truce announced by the Basque terror group ETA, contrasting Spanish hope with victims' skepticism on the first day of the truce, which coincided with the documentary production.

"You know what it's like... you touch down and have limited time to get your story.  And you really need someone who knows everyone and can get them all for you in 5 minutes!  Well, Camino Media took a few more minutes than 5, but it was slick and easy.  That's all you can ask for."  Dana Lewis, Fox News foreign correspondent.

Barcelona was the location of the 3GSM World Congress 2006, and Camino Media supplied a one-man-band with DVCAM gear for our latest collaboration with Scandinavian news agency Citat Journalistgruppen.  Members of the team stayed on to work with our director of photography in Barcelona and the surrounding Spanish countryside on a Plus One Productions corporate video featuring the semi-trailer truck freight services of Swedish company Nils Hansson.

A Note About Camino Media

Renowned caminos, or paths, have shown travelers the way for centuries.  Pilgrims in Europe have long followed the Milky Way along the Camino de Santiago to pay homage to the tomb of Saint James in northwest Spain.  Spaniards settling North America used the Camino Real to sustain their presence in the west for centuries.

Camino Media provides sure footing and a friendly partner for media and video production clientele planning to shoot in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.  The experience of producing television on five continents has shown us the value of skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly local crews and suppliers.  We share the best of our proven global network by providing the people our clients need to build a team of professionals for tailor-made productions.
