Factual Productions Top Off Diverse Services Year
A fourth quarter dominated by documentary and news required versatility of Camino Media's production services--and we delivered.
The results reached PBS viewers of "Foreign Exchange with Fareed Zakaria" in a story about the unprecedented obesity plague that has alarmed European Union leaders as it threatens to reduce life-expectancy among Europe's youth. Camino Media researched and turnkey-produced a first-person narrative featuring renowned three-star Michelin chef Ferran Adria and his fast food restaurant initiative, Fast Good, as an example of how to counter the distressing trend. "The piece is great. I think it really hit the mark. Thank you for your thoroughness." Gareth Conway, Senior Producer, Foreign Exchange, PBS. Click here to see the story.

Our Barcelona crew worked with US documentary filmmaker James M. Edwards to capture a historic visit to Catalonia of the last remaining American veterans of the Spanish Civil War in a yet-to-be-titled production. "The crew was a joy to work with. Thanks for lining them up."
In Madrid, Camino Media supplied a lighting cameraman, sound recordist, and HDV gear for The Tennis Channel to feature Spanish talent Fernando Verdasco in its documentary series, "No Strings". But it was UK company 4D Productions that served up the unprecedented challenge of calling on Camino Media just 48 hours before needing multiple, English-speaking camera crews and gear to shoot a golf tournament at La Manga Club for a Sky Sports documentary produced at the Mediterranean resort.
Our successful line-up at tee-off would come as no surprise to Bloomberg Television. December marks our second anniversary of providing studio directors to cover last-minute sick days and vacation scheduling for the financial news channel's automated studio in Madrid.
The Camino Media team also continued covering current events in Spain for Fox News. Story planning with our researcher attracted the US news channel to include a report from Madrid in its pan-European series analyzing the state of Christianity in Europe. Fox News called on Camino Media for a producer, fixer, lighting cameraman, camera assistant, and ENG gear for that shoot, which came on the heels of another assignment with correspondent Greg Burke to produce two reports in the North African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla--Spain's (and Europe's) foothold in Africa. Camino Media supplied producer, cameraman / editor, and ENG gear for reports on the neighborhood of the Spanish citizen detained in Guantanamo and the Sub-Saharan African immigrant crisis which saw thousands using makeshift ladders to clamber over razor-wire fences in a desperate attempt to reach the promised land of Europe.

Swedish (SVT) and Irish (RTE) national television networks also called on the expertise of our team to work with them in Spain and Morocco on this immigration crisis which made headlines around the globe.
Throughout the quarter, Camino Media teams adapted to the distinct requirements of commercial shoots. Field producer, cameraman, camera assistant, and ENG gear is what UK production company Red Planet ordered up in Spain's Basque Country in order to shoot marketing interviews and a fanzine event tied to Levi's-Antidote. Back in Madrid, Camino Media supplied grip, gaffer, runner, and digital betacam gear with dolly and lights for a promo shoot of UK publisher Pearson Longman, as well as HDV gear and crew for in-house interviews.
And in another last-minute production, Camino Media proved pivotal to the Iceland production company Saga Film commercial shot for Landesbanki (The National Bank of Iceland) on 16mm. We supplied sound recordist and DAT gear, production vans with drivers, and extras casting agent, while also facilitating contact with Real Madrid Football Club in order to shoot inside the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
All this doesn't begin to cover what's in development for 2006! Whether it be documentary, industrial, commercial, OB, or any other type of audiovisual production, we look forward to working with you in Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and Miami.
A Note About Camino Media
Renowned caminos, or paths, have shown travelers the way for centuries. Pilgrims in Europe have long followed the Milky Way along the Camino de Santiago to pay homage to the tomb of Saint James in northwest Spain. Spaniards settling North America used the Camino Real to sustain their presence in the west for centuries.
